You must carefully weigh a lot of factors before making a major move i.e. relocating 50 miles or more from your present location. You must find out whether the schools in the area are any good and what the job market is like. You must also factor in the crime rate of the area you would be relocating to and the proportion of violent crimes in the area.

The prime consideration, over and above all these factors is the housing costs in the new area. Given that the average housing costs in most major cities are much higher than the national average, it becomes difficult to find a home near the anticipated place of work.

Once you’ve considered all the factors, you will find Indianapolis to be a great place to relocate to. The housing costs in Indianapolis are in line with national averages, and there are great schools, and a very respectable crime rate. From all respects Indianapolis is one of the greatest cities in the country to call home.

The Indianapolis area abounds in employment opportunities. General Motors, Eli Lily and many other major corporations have their operations in this area. Considering Indianapolis has nearly 800,000 people, the housing costs are very reasonable although the real estate market is really hot. You can get a respectable apartment at a reasonable cost in one of the many communities and corporate housing areas.

Indianapolis also offers amazing educational opportunities with a top notch public school system and several universities. The city offers several options to those interested in higher education or classes to further their career. The foremost option is the centrally located Butler University, which is home to some of the finest college graduates in the state. Top state universities like IU and Purdue also have their regional campuses in the area, thus providing ample opportunities to people seeking higher education.

Traffic, while naturally a concern during rush hour, is surprisingly light for a city the size of Indianapolis. With several alternate routes into the city aside from the Interstates, getting in and out of Indy will be no trouble at all once you get to know the area. People living within 20 miles of the city limit can generally make it into work in 30-35 minutes.

Moreover, Indianapolis is not only good from the point of view of economic and educational growth, it is also a great place to meet people and enjoy life. It has football and basketball sports complexes, and everything you could ever need to have a good time. If you are thinking of relocating in the near future, it’s a good idea to explore all that Indianapolis has to offer.
